Meeting with tourists at the railway station of Taraz or in the hotel lobby. Taraz is one of the ancient cities of Kazakhstan, where in 2015 the ceremonial events to celebrate the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate were held.
45 km from the city of Taraz is the Akyrtas Palace Complex. It dates back to the 8th-9th centuries. The Akyrtas Palace Complex is one of the most mysterious and interesting structures in all of Kazakhstan. The grandeur of the building and the size of the stone blocks used in construction are striking. It is a structure of the ancient culture of nomads. Some argue that Akyrtas is an ancient Buddhist temple. Others are inclined to think that these are the remains of a Nestorian monastery. There is also a hypothesis that this is an Arab palace.
After that, you return to the city of Taraz to get acquainted with the history of the city. Here you can have lunch in an established or at your own discretion institution.
After lunch, the route goes to the following excursions:
– Zhambyl Regional Museum of History and Local Lore;
– Karakhan Mausoleum: was erected over the grave of one of the rulers of the Karakhanid dynasty. There is a version that in the Turkic world, it was the Karakhanids who were the first to convert to Islam, converting their subjects to the new faith;
– Dautbek Mausoleum: a 13th-century building, located on the territory of the rabat of ancient Taraz, to the east of the Karakhan Mausoleum;
– Ethno-historical complex Tekturmas and mausoleum Tekturmas: The Tekturmas Mausoleum is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Taraz. It was erected over the grave of Sultan Mahmud Khan, the commander-in-chief of the Karakhan troops. Tekturmas is also known for its underground passages, which, according to legend, are associated with the ancient shakhristan of Taraz. The ethno-historical complex “Tekturmas” is located approximately 800 m from the Tekturmas mausoleum. This complex will tell residents and guests about the history of the Great Silk Road, the Kazakh Khanate, historical battles, important events during the years of independence. Here you can also visit the observation deck to view the landscapes;
– Aisha-Bibi Mausoleum and Babaji Khatun Mausoleum: It was built in the 12th century, during the heyday of the Karakhanid era. Terracotta tiles were used in the design – this is what makes the mausoleum unique and the only one of its kind in Kazakhstan. Near the tomb of Aisha-Bibi is the Babaji Khatun mausoleum. Their eastern facades are on the same line. The structure is very unique: There are no analogues of such a dome throughout Central Asia. The decoration inside the mausoleum also has a unique design.
After visiting the sights, you go to the village of Zhabagly to check into a guest house.
Dinner and overnight stay await you at the guest house.
