Day tour to Torysh (Valley of Balls), Mount Sherkala, Airakty Shomanai (Valley of Castles), Bozjyra, Solonchak Tuzbair, Hills “Tiramisu”, Beket-Ata and Kyzylkup
After meeting your guide in the hotel lobby, you will set off on a journey through Western Kazakhstan.
The first stop will be the Valley of Balls (Torysh), which has become the pearl of Mangystau nature. The Valley of Balls is a place where nature has scattered hundreds of stone spheres of different sizes across the steppe. These mysterious formations resemble giant eggs, meteorites or fossil artifacts. Surprisingly, the balls have a distinct core. The size of the balls varies from tiny marble stones to huge boulders the size of a car.
The next object will be Mount Sherkala – it is attractive not only for its unusual outlines, but also for the echoes of history. In the old days, the legendary Great Silk Road passed at its foot. In terms of mystery, it is not inferior to the Egyptian pyramids. According to one dubious theory, the top of the mountain is artificial. There, in prehistoric times, an alien ship allegedly landed, and the inhabitants of distant planets left their spacecraft at the bottom of the ancient Tethys Sea. Over time, the sea dried up, and the ship ended up under a thick layer of petrified mud.
The next stop is Airakty Shomanai (Valley of Castles). The stone remnants of this area seem to line up in a real fortress wall, for which the valley got its name. Sometimes steppe horses and mountain sheep – mouflons – are found on the trail. Since the end of the 6th century, caravans of the Great Silk Road passed through the land of Mangystau, and legends say that treasures can be found in the valley. The walls of the remnant mountains are decorated with rock paintings depicting camels, horses and mouflons. They were left by ancient hunters and shepherds.
After this, the stop is dedicated to examining the panoramic points of the Bozjyra gorge. From the heights, breathtaking views of the snow-white chalk cliffs, reminiscent of the teeth of a fantastic ridge, open up.
This is followed by an organized break and lunch.
Next, stop at the lower panorama of the Tuzbair salt marsh. The rocks above the salt marsh are ancient chalk deposits of the ancient Tethys Ocean and reach a height of more than 60 meters. The arch on the Tuzbair salt marsh is a natural vault that was formed due to the erosion and collapse of neighboring rocks.
After this, the route goes to the Kyzylkup tract, also called “Tiramisu” due to the fact that the slopes of the hills and cliffs resemble the famous Italian dessert. Like all the attractions on the route, the tract owes its origin to the ancient Tethys Ocean. In addition, you will see the Beket-Ata mosque. In Western Kazakhstan, people believe that just the mention of Beket-Ata can ward off trouble, and a prayer in the mosque works a miracle. To get inside, you need to go down 1500 meters underground. At the end of the trip, you will return to your hotel in the city with your guide
